Stories of Hope
"My experience was okay. I was already familiar with her style of working and how she handled clientele. Because I didn’t take a lot of sessions, I cannot completely judge if there was any difference. But overall my experience was good."
"There are few things within us that we tend to ignore or feel it difficult to express and let out. The counselling helped ne acknowledge myself. I could understand my emotions and feelings in a much better way."

"Clinical psychologists gave a lot of advice and spoke more than i did; my first psychiatrist barely diagnosed me properly, spoke to my mother more than to me, was critical and told me to accept my diagnosis, my 2nd psychiatrist was really good. Experience with counsellors with amazing. They understood me and are responsible for most of my healing"
"It’s been a mixed experience, I’ve had issues initially adjusting with a psychologist, so I’d often stop going because I felt it was not helping me. But eventually I found one who was able to help me in quite a lot of aspects and so I’ve been visiting her for some time now. It definitely takes time to find a proper tuning with the therapist and thus can be a long process."

"So my first visit was really scary. Tbh I was shaking the entire time, i just wanted to run from there, even I started crying immediately when i saw my doctor. I felt like she was going to judge me and voice all my feelings to my dad. And it going to end very badly. So it was all my anxiety speaking not me. As she was great, she calmed me down, all my feelings, talks were private and safe. She gave me a routine to improve my overthinking habits."
"First and foremost, no matter how trivial the symptoms and feelings may feel, you need to know that you can’t ignore them and often it won’t just pass away without help, so please please take good care of yourself and consider yourself important enough to pay attention to what your mind and body is telling you. I know it often seems daunting to tell someone about it or to seek help because you simply don’t know what to say, but do try, you don’t have to do it alone, because I know it’s a lot and it’s gonna make it much easier if you have someone with you in your journey."

"To not give up on getting help. Getting help for mental health can seem very daunting and stressful, especially if you’re not speaking to the right person for you. The potential benefits outweigh the effort you will have to put in."
Learning Experiences
"I struggled to attend more than one session with a counsellor. I always felt very exposed and judged. I struggled to express myself and felt rather silly when they would try to provide simplistic answers to me. I felt they were not very helpful in the long run, and thus never returned. I eventually found a counsellor who had experience dealing with trauma and I stuck to her."
"Pretty bad with my college counsellor, but the second one was a friend of mine and she took sessions and it helped me immensely"
"Felt like they directed me towards a problem i didn’t feel was that important, there were other things i was more affected by."
